Ignition Coils come in a variety of configurations. Older, more traditional ignition systems tend to utilise what is known as 'dumb' coils, which utilise a remote coil, with a discrete distributor and individual leads to provide and distribute ignition to each cylinder. Some later model vehicles utilise what is known as a 'batch fire' or 'wasted spark' type system, which share one coil with a pair of cylinders, such as that featured on Toyota's venerable 2JZ. However most contemporary models manufactured in the last 20 years tend to feature a 'coil-on-plug' or 'direct ignition' type system which combines the coil and lead into one compact assembly that mounts directly to the plug atop each cylinder. A vehicle with a failed or faulty ignition coil or coil pack may deliver a weak ignition spark, which can manifest itself as an error code in later model vehicles, limit RPM or power particularly under higher load, or prevent the engine from starting at all. Premier Auto Trade offer a wide range of ignition coils to suit most every vehicle in the Australian fleet. Simply enter your vehicle registration via the 'Add your Vehicle' tab located at the top of this page, or alternatively it's make, model and series, in order to narrow your search and find the right ignition coil to suit your unique vehicle.
